Leaving No Trace

by Peggy Zetler © 1997

Amongst one sun soaked clearing in the glade
of aspen glow, evergreen growing on vine,
is a fairy-ring radiant as a lover laid
flowing entwined are the blades
of sweet sorrow made.

Does not the bitterroot contain
the promise of serenity
lost in a lust so lush that the yellow moon forever shines?
A path, a path of twinkling light
across the depths of alpine aquifer
cobalt blue,
cold,
drenched of life...

Aloud some tiny twigs snap like the crackling of hot fire
letting song erupt from souls of pith
twitter, twitter oh karmic rhythm...
melodious, memorizing is the touch of wind dances
to n' low,
shimmy delight
where tranquility inspires, mmm and
desires do bloom
in this room covered in endless space...
leaving no trace,
Love was here.
